SOUTH LONDON ORDNANCE - REVOLVER
South London Ordnance came to prominence early 2012 with a string of well timed releases on labels as diverse as 2nd Drop and Audio Culture. Not one to believe in ‘right place right time’ consequence, it is evident that SLO has honed his skills, putting forth tracks with ingenuity as well as dancefloor merit. If any label acts as a seal of approval it would be Scuba’s Hotflush Recordings. Acting as a home for emerging talents such as Locked Groove as well as established heroes such as George Fitzgerald, it is evident that if SLO keeps producing tracks of this calibre he will have found a home in Hotflush that could push him to the upper echelons of techno.

George Fitzgerald - Thinking Of You
This little number just popped into our inbox, it’s the newest cut from George Fitzgerald who has been prolific as of late. His recent EP’s on AUS have crossed genres like no other, Child particularly taking up the 2012 mantel of NY House. His EP on Hypercolour featured a remix from Deetron which picked up support from a range of artists including the likes of Joy Orbison right through to Richy Ahmed. This release comes as a little taster for a full ep dropping some time May. ‘Thinking Of You’ is dark, brooding and in typical Fitzgerald fashion, features excellent vocal sampling which really holds the track together over the grinding bassline.
Hotflush and George do it once again, if this EP taster is anything to go by then it’s sure to be a hit!
Palace have always been leaders of the pack whether it’s in their innovative approach to clothing design or their sporadic promotion of their skate team. It’s not about quantity with Palace but more so a respect of the process and the continued strive for quality. This most recent video is perfect in every sense, the stylised videography coupled with the use of Anthony Naples harks to Palace’s no nonsense approach.
Material from Palace comes few and far between but when it comes, it’s always something to be fond of…
Locked Groove
Heritage EP
HF038
After what has seen like an absolute age, we return to the magazine with content worthy of substantial praise. Locked Groove intially pricked our attention earlier this year with his grooving, 4x4 take on Duke Dumonts anthem ‘The Giver’. The Sludgy bassline coupled with the uplifting vocal seemed to penetrate every underground dancefloor, and quite rightly so!
Locked Grooves return to his home of Hotflush Recordings comes with hot anticipation and the Heritage EP doesn’t disappoint! Lost is arguably a standout track with melancholic atmospherics, a driving bassline and synth stabs that give the dancefloor something to hold onto. Having produced an EP with differing styles present, namely the almost NY nature of ‘Wear It Well’, nevertheless Locked Grooves work maintains a cohesive nature and one that we feel will age well.
If his current work is anything to go on then we can see a strong future for this young Belgium producer.
Release date: February 25th
Tracklisting:
A1 - Do It Anyway
B1 - Wear It Well
B2 - Firefall
C1 - Night Time At The Garage
C2 - Dream Within A Dream
D1 – Lost
